Amy Winehouse

WALT: To write a biography about someone I find inspirational

Amy Winehouse was a talented, fun, outgoing woman. She was a famous singer who won six Grammy awards. She did take drugs and alcohol and she died from it. But Amy was a good person and if I was her daughter I would be happy that my Mum was a singer but sad that she died and had issues.

Amy Winehouse made her 2nd album called Back to Black and it won six Grammy awards. She was the first person in the world to win six Grammy awards.

Early Life

Amy Winehouse was born in London on the 14^th of September 1983. Her family is a Jewish family from London. Her grandmother was a singer so that inspired her to sing. He teachers found Amy hard to keep quiet during class because she was constantly singing.

Singing Career

Amy’s brother Alex got Amy her first guitar when she was thirteen. A year later she started writing music and songs. Her very first album was called Frank. It got released on the 20 of October 2003. Then came her second album Back to Black. It lead her to six Grammy award. She was the sixth person to win five Grammy award in the world.   

Later Career

Her album Back to Black was inspired by her relationship with Blake Civil-Fielder. Blake was on the Lily Allen show. They were so in love that’s how it inspired the Back to Black album. 

Conclusion  

So as it ends Amy Winehouse died because of her terrible mistakes taking drugs and alcohol. She only took drugs and alcohol for 1 year but that still affected her body so she died. It was sad for her husband but he is handling it. She became a member of the 27 club of musicians who died when they were 27. Other members of the 27 club is the Brian James, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Robert Johnston.

I admire Amy Winehouse because she went through a lot in her life. She was a really good person even though she made mistakes. People ask why I admire her when she did drugs and alcohol, but I think it’s sad that people think that because there was more to her life than just her mistakes.

My opinion of the events of Parihaka
I do think that Tohu and Te Whiti were inspirational because they stood up for their beliefs and their culture. They didn't fight because they knew they would be defeated.
I think it's sad that so many Maori people died. I think the English people were wrong to hurt Maori people.
